Welcome to our website, Student Advocates for Safe Schools! We are an action-oriented movement, led by students, to promote nation-wide school safety and gun reform.

It is stated in the Declaration of Independence:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness; that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just power from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness..."
Today, we stand on the rights enumerated to us at the founding of our nation, most specifically, to our right to life and safety. We may not yet be entitled to the right of suffrage, but as the youth of the United States of America we demand our rights as citizens.
Over and over again we have seen how worthless we are in the eyes of the government. A government who is more concerned with re-election and funding than our very lives. A government who calls us the future, but has become apathetic in their protection of us. How can we be the future if we are not alive for it?
After every shooting, we hear the same cycle of phrases:
"Thoughts and prayers"
"Such a tragic act - they were too young"
"Now is not the time to talk about reform"
All of those statements are true, but they remain in a continuous loop of travesty, sympathy, and inaction. We will no longer be mollified by inane words meant to appease until the anger blows over, but demand action from our legislative and educational representatives.
The cycle ends here, with us. We stand with Marjory Stoneman, Sandy Hook, Columbine, Las Vegas, Orlando Nightclub, Virginia Tech, Sutherland Springs, San Bernardino, and many, many more to say Never Again.
Raise your hands, Raise your Voices. Let's make our school safe.
